Before changing records, name the intended address
Decide which public hostname the offer should use and who controls its registration and DNS. Podia documents connecting a custom domain through a supported subdomain or www arrangement, with its own platform address also available. Write down the chosen canonical address before making changes. A domain name, a website host and an email mailbox are separate services even when their names look related.
Preserve unrelated DNS settings
Inventory the existing records and identify the exact website record the current instructions require. Mail records and other service verification entries should not be removed merely to connect the website. Use the provider’s current guidance and the account’s displayed destination rather than copying an old screenshot. Our guide does not authorize or perform DNS changes, and the required settings may depend on the domain provider.
Check old links before changing an established domain
A new hostname can affect links in previously sent emails and other published materials. Podia’s documentation specifically discusses the impact of changing or disconnecting a domain on email links. Do not assume every historical URL will be repaired automatically. Preserve the old address where appropriate and list important entry points so they can be checked after the supported connection is complete.
Verify the finished public route
Check the exact hostname, secure connection and a representative page from a normal visitor context. Confirm that email still works through its existing service and that internal navigation uses the intended address. Do not bypass a browser security warning to call the setup successful. Domain configuration is complete only when the intended public route works; an accepted DNS form or saved platform setting is an intermediate result. Save the previous website record separately from the mailbox configuration before an authorized cutover.
