What belongs on a public page versus inside Podia?

Last materially reviewed 2026-09-21

Quick answerUse public pages to explain and demonstrate value; use member areas for the experience you intentionally gate.
What to know

Give visitors enough information before asking them to join

A public offer page should explain the intended buyer, deliverable, prerequisites and limitations. It can include an original sample that helps someone judge suitability without giving away every part of the paid material. Do not hide the basic explanation behind a signup requirement and then blame visitors for failing to understand the product. The public page is where someone decides whether the offer is relevant; the member area is where the promised experience continues.

What to know

Do not assume a community post is publicly discoverable

The new-Podia documentation explains changes to older public community topics and recommends public blog content for material intended for site visitors. Treat a logged-in space and a public article as different publication surfaces. A search engine cannot be expected to expose content that requires membership. Conversely, do not publish private member material simply to make more pages available for search. The permission and editorial purpose should control the location.

What to know

Use a clear boundary in the content plan

For example, a public guide could explain how to prepare a client handoff, while a paid workbook supplies an editable artifact and a member space supports questions. Each surface has a different job. Repeating the same sales pitch in all three does not improve the experience. Mark the public example, the paid deliverable and the ongoing discussion separately so future updates do not accidentally change what buyers were promised or expose something that should remain private.

What to know

Verify the anonymous and member paths separately

Inspect the public page without assuming owner access. Then use the platform’s supported preview tools to inspect the intended member experience. Check navigation labels and welcome instructions so they lead to the correct surface. A working link in the owner account is not proof of public visibility or buyer access. Our page brief and space map help define what each audience should see before a live launch creates real customer expectations.
